LEAN STARTUP 101 - Nov 24th
Presented by Lean Startup Vancouver, Ideahack, Growlabs and the UBC Entrepreneur Society This night is all about plugging students into the lean startup movement and the local tech community in Vancouver. Lean startup is a non-traditional approach to entrepreneurship designed to increase efficiency and “cut the fat” out of the startup process. It involves using market feedback to continuously refine designs, rather than first engaging in more expensive traditional research and development. We want YOU to start something, so we are connecting you to people who can help you MAKE IT HAPPEN. You will get a crash course in the very popular lean startup movement, and meet some awesome recent UBC graduates who have launched some amazing companies. You will also get a chance to meet and chat with local entrepreneurs about their plans and projects. Finally, Jason Bailey – a prominent angel investor and founder of Vancouver’s new startup accelerator, GrowLab – will tell his story, talk about GrowLab and describe what he looks for in entrepreneurs.
This event is aimed towards students with an interest in technology: students from computer sciences, engineering, business and other programs with a desire to learn more about the lean startup movement. Lean Startup 101 will be held on November 24th at 6PM at The Office: Suite 320, 309 West Cordova. Tickets are $5, and can be purchased online at Eventbrite (http://leanstartup101.eventbrite.com). You can also check out our Facebook event at https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=272041906174171.
We will also be setting up a booth in CA Hall at Sauder this Monday 1PM - 4PM if you’re interested in finding out more about the event or purchasing tickets. In order to ensure a mixture of students from various backgrounds, a portion of the tickets have been reserved for students in computer science, engineering, and business; ticket numbers are limited to ensure a more productive and intimate event, so make sure you get yours early! If you have ever considered starting a company out of school, are working on a project and want to meet some like-minded people, or are looking to plug into the tech community in town, then you do not want to miss this one. Hope to see you there! Sincerely, Your UBCES Exec Team
